How much does a translation cost?
Every project is priced differently, however as a general guide for medical report/certificate translations, please visit my prices page.
I charge an hourly rate for revision, and either a word rate or day rate for translations exceeding one page. I will always offer a no-obligation quote that sets out exactly what you will be paying for, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.
How long will it take?
The length of time a project will take naturally depend on the volume. A short medical report or certificate can often be turned around in a couple of days. If you need an urgent response, let me know and I will see if I can accommodate you.
Do you translate from English into French or Portuguese?
I only translate out of my second languages (French and Portuguese) into my native language and language of everyday use, which is UK English. This is the translation industry gold standard, and it ensures that I can produce a flowing and natural translation that sounds like it was originally written in English.
If you need a translation out of English, I can recommend a colleague. Alternatively, if a document requires translation both into and out of English (or you aren't sure), get in touch and I will be able to assess who is needed and either recommend or work with a trusted colleague.
Do you translate into US English?
My native language is UK English, so I normally use this variant of English. However, I understand that medical documents often need to be understood worldwide and by people who do not have English as a first language. If you require US English as a neutral variant, I can follow US spelling conventions as long as colloquial language is not needed.
Can you provide a certified translation?
As a qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), I can certify my own translations from French into English.
Do you only translate medical texts?
I mainly work on texts in the medicine and healthcare field, but I can also take on general business or certificate translations. Please contact me to discuss your needs. If I am not familiar with the field, I will be happy to recommend a trusted colleague.
